  • Alun Ceri Jones

    Alun Ceri Jones yw cyfieithydd a chyhoeddwr mwya toreithiog y stori stribed yn Gymraeg. Yn frodor o Gaerdydd, ond bellach yn byw yng Ngheredigion, ef yw cyfieithydd cyfres Asterix. Yn wir, mae ei berthynas â’r Galiad eofn yn ymestyn nôl i’r 1970au pan fu’n gyfrifol am drosi anturiaethau cynta Asterix i’r Gymraeg.

     

    Mae Alun yn rhugl ei Ffrangeg ac yn meddu ar radd yn y Gymraeg o Brifysgol Cymru, Llambed. Bu’n gweithio fel lecteur d’anglais ym
    mhrifysgol Reims Champagne-Ardenne yng nghanol yr 80au, cyn dychwelyd i Gymru i weithio mewn meysydd creadigol cyhoeddus yn y cyfryngau torfol, gan gynnyws hysbysebu, ysgrifennu golygyddol, dylunio golygyddol, sgriptio, cynhyrchu radio a theledu, a chyflwyno.

     

    Dychwelodd i faes cyfieithu creadigol yn 2005 pan sefydlodd gwmni cyhoeddi Dalen (Llyfrau) Cyf. Mae’r cwmni bellach wedi cyhoeddi bron i 100 o deitlau yn Gymraeg, Gwyddeleg, Gaeleg, Cernyweg, Sgoteg a Saesneg, ac Alun ei hun yn gyfrifol am gyfieithu dros 35 o’r llyfrau hyn.

  • Dafydd Jones

    Dafydd Jones yw cyfieithydd cyfresi Tintin a Lewsyn Lwcus yn Gymraeg, ac mae e hefyd yn olygydd creadigol i Dalen. Yn un o feibion Caerdydd, Dafydd bellach yw Golygydd Gwasg Prifysgol Cymru. Rhwng 1995 a 2012 roedd yn ddarlithydd yng Nghyfgadran Hanes a Theori Celf yn Ysgol Gelf Caerdydd, a bu hefyd yn ymchwilydd mygedol yn Archif Ryngwladol Dada ym Mhrifysgol Iowa.

     

    Mae Dafydd hefyd wedi cyfrannu’n helaeth i astudiaethau avant-garde, yn benodol Prosiect Avant-Gadre prifysgolion Caeredin a Glasgow (2000-7), a’r gyfres nodedig Crisis and the Arts: The History of Dada (1996-2005). Golygodd gyfrol Dada Culture (2006), ac ef yw awdur y monograffau ymchwil Dada 1916 in Theory: Practices of Critical Resistance (2104) a The Fictions of Arthur Cravan: Poetry, Boxing and Revolution (2018). Mae’n awdur i weisg Prifysgol Manceinion, Prifysgol Lerpwl, a Rodopi/Brill (Efrog Newydd ac Amsterdam).

Dalen Eireann

  • Gabriel Rosenstock

    Born in postcolonial Ireland, mother from County Galway, father from Schleswig-Holstein, Gabriel Rosenstock is one of Ireland's foremost poets and a prolific translator (poems, songs, plays, haiku). He has also written essays, novels, short stories, plays for stage, radio and television. He was commissioned by Dalen in 2014 to translate the first Tintin album into Irish, Todóga na bhFarónna (Cigares du Pharaon), and has translated all subsequent Tintin titles in Irish. From 2016 Gabriel has also been translator of the Asterix series in Irish for Dalen.

  • Antain Mac Lochlainn

    Dr Antain Mac Lochlainn is a writer and translator from County Derry, Ireland now living in Dublin, awarded a Ph.D in Irish Studies
    from the University Of Ulster in 1996. He was responsible for the translation of the first four Astérix albums in Irish, Asterix na nGallach, Asterix agus an Corrán Óir, Asterix Gliaire and Asterix i dTír na Sananach. He has also recently published and Irish translation of C.S. Lewis’ An Leon, an Bandraoi agus an Prios Éadaigh (The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe) (An Gúm, 2014) and has published several other original and translated work in Irish, including an award-winning novella, Ruball an Éin (Cló Iar-Chonnacht, 2000) and short fiction in English in journals such as WordLegs, Poetry Bus and bursaries from RTÉ’s Francis McManus Awards.

  • Raghnaid Sandilands

    Raghnaid Sandilands is a young professional creative translator who has made a mark in the Gaelic book market in recent years. Born in Lochalsh in the Western Highlands of Scotland, Raghnaid was commissioned by Dalen to undertake work on their first Astérix album in Gaelic, Asterix ann an Dùthaich nan Cruithneach (Astérix chez les Pictes), published simultaneously in Gaelic and all other international languages in October 2013. Since then she has translated four further Asterix titles into Gaelic and, for Dalen, is the editor for Tintin in Gaelic. She is also the Gaelic translator of Saltire, Scotland's first home-grown superhero comic character.

  • Gillebrìde Mac ’Illemhaoil

    Gillebrìde Mac ’Illemhaoil is a native of South Uist in the Outer Hebrides islands of western Scotland, now living in Glasgow. Gillebrìde teaches Scottish Gaelic at the University of Glasgow with research interests in Gaelic song transmission, oral tradition, grammar, education, and translation and interpreting skills. In addition to Tintin, has translated several literary works into Gaelic, including Trithead Ceum ’s a Naoi (John Buchan’s The Thirty Nine Steps), Shakespeare’s Romeo agus Juliet and Walter Scott’s Waverley for ebook publishers Giglets in partnership with Storlànn and the Gaelic Books Council.

Dalen Scots

  • Matthew Fitt

    Matthew Fitt is the Scots Asterix translator. He is one of Scotland’s foremost contemporary poets and novelists, a government advisor on Scots issues and policy development, and educator. His works of fiction and raft of children’s books are acknowledged as being instrumental in the normalisation of Scots as a contemporary literary medium.

  • Susan Rennie

    Dr Susan Rennie is the Scots Tintin translator. Formerly the Kelvin Research Fellow at Glasgow University, Susan is a lexicographer, author and translator and has a long record of developing works of literature in Scots, from Jamieson’s Dictionary of Scots to one of the best ever sellers in Scots, Animal ABC. Susan is passionate about progressing the availability of material across all registers in Scots and promoting the language and its use in all quarters.
