Tintin et Milou arrivent à Chicago pour enquêter sur les activités des célèbres gangsters de la ville. Alors que Tintin tente de traduire le gang en justice, leur chef, Bobby Smiles, s’échappe au Far West – avec Tintin sur ses talons. Dans la prairie, les Indiens Treid-Du (Pieds-Noirs) mettent la vie de Tintin en danger. Mais il s’échappe et repart à la poursuite de Smiles. Découvrant le gangster dans une cabane isolée, il le capture pour le livrer à la justice. Mais le gang veut l'empêcher à tout prix, et la vie de Tintin se trouve de nouveau menacée!

Tintin and Milou head for Chicago to report on the activities of the city’s gangsters. As Tintin tries to bring the mob to justice, their ringleader, Bobby Smiles, escapes to the Wild West… with Tintin hot on his heels. On the open prairie, the Indians of the Treid-Du tribe put Tintin’s life in danger – but the unflappable Tintin escapes the Indian clutches and goes back on the hunt for Smiles. He discovers the gangster in a remote hideaway cabin, and there Tintin captures the mobster to hand him over to the Chicago authorities. But the mob has other ideas, and Tintin’s life is again in mortal danger before he succeeds in his mission and receives the accolade of a grateful crowd.
